HudsonAlpha's Tie the Ribbons luncheon will support breast, ovarian cancer research in Huntsville

The ribbons are teal and pink at the annual Tie the Ribbons luncheon – teal for ovarian cancer and pink for breast cancer. The fifth annual event, hosted by HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, will be held Oct. 24 at noon at the Jackson Center. The luncheon benefits breast and ovarian cancer research.

Area students to support HudsonAlpha through Barnes & Noble group

Youth Advisory Board photoThe local B&N Youth Advisory board promotes literacy and the arts, but the high school students also learn civic responsibility by volunteering for several nonprofit organizations throughout the school year.  Among projects in the next year, the group recently voted to volunteer for the Double Helix Dash 5K held each spring in McMillian Park. The run supports research initiatives at HudsonAlpha.

Combining pink and teal, the signature colors for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, Tie the Ribbons is designed to support research of both diseases.

HudsonAlpha employees demonstrated their generosity yet again with the 2013 employee giving campaign. The Give 10 Team is a charitable program comprised of employees who donate a minimum of $10 per paycheck or $240 per year back to the institute.
